Daily Prayer: Year 1, Day 23

From A Simple Book of Prayers

Relying on His Promises
(Confession)

I am grateful to You, O God, for the blessing of Your forgiveness. I thank You that in Christ You set me free from the guilt of the past and give me hope for the future.

“For a brief moment I forsook you,
But with great compassion I will gather you.” (Isaiah 54:7)

Take a moment to ask the Spirit to search your heart and reveal any areas of unconfessed sin. Acknowledge these to the Lord, and thank Him for His forgiveness.

God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should change his mind. Has He spoken and not done it? Has He promised and not fulfilled it? (Numbers 23:19)

The foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men. But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise, and God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong . . . so that no one may boast before Him. (1 Corinthians 1:25, 27–29)

Lord, I praise You that Your promises are always true. You are my unfailing source of hope and trust in an uncertain world. I am grateful that You have chosen me for Yourself.
