From A Simple Book of Prayers
Seeking Compassion
(Thanksgiving)
O Lord, I am deeply grateful for Your wonderful acts, for Your abundant promises, and for the gift of my relationship with You through the merits of Christ.
Many, O Lord my God, are the wonders You have done,
And Your thoughts toward us no one can recount to You;
Were I to speak and tell of them,
They would be too many to declare. (Psalm 40:5)
I will praise You forever for what You have done;
I will hope in Your name, for it is good.
I will praise You in the presence of Your saints. (Psalm 52:9)
Take a moment to express your gratitude for the many blessings that you have received from the Lord.
He who covers a transgression seeks love, but he who repeats a matter separates close friends. (Proverbs 17:9)
I will put away all bitterness and anger and wrath and shouting and slander, along with all malice. And I will be kind and compassionate to others, forgiving them just as God in Christ also forgave me. (Ephesians 4:31–32)
Lord, I praise You that Your eternal purpose will stand and that You give life to the dead. I thank You for the gift of eternal life in Your Son, and I ask that I would put away bitterness and wrath and show kindness and compassion to others.
