From A Simple Book of Prayers
Loving Instruction
(Adoration)
Lord, I give thanks for Your greatness, Your goodness, and Your love; and I now draw near to enjoy Your presence.
Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise;
He is to be feared above all gods.
For all the gods of the nations are idols,
But the Lord made the heavens.
Splendor and majesty are before Him;
Strength and beauty are in His sanctuary.
I will ascribe to the Lord glory and strength.
I will ascribe to the Lord the glory due His name
And worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness. (Psalm 96:4–9)
Blessed is the man who fears the Lord,
Who finds great delight in His commands. (Psalm 112:1)
Take a moment to consider God’s awesome majesty, and thank Him that He loves you and wants an intimate relationship with you.
A rebuke goes deeper into a wise person than a hundred lashes into a fool. (Proverbs 17:10)
Whoever loves instruction loves knowledge, but the one who hates correction is stupid. (Proverbs 12:1)
Lord, I thank You that You know me intimately and still care for me. I thank You for what You are preparing for those who love You, and I ask that I would learn from rebukes and accept correction.
