Daily Prayer: Year 1, Day 5

From A Simple Book of Prayers

Pleasing our Neighbor
(Intercession)

Lord, You have invited me to pray for the needs of others; and since You desire what is best for them, I take this opportunity to bring these requests to You.

Blessed are those whose strength is in You,
Who have set their hearts on pilgrimage. (Psalm 84:5)

O Lord, be gracious to us; we have hoped in You.
Be our strength every morning,
Our salvation in time of distress. (Isaiah 33:2)

Take a moment to lift up the needs of your family and friends, and to offer up any other burdens for others that the Lord brings to mind.

We who are strong ought to bear the weaknesses of those who are not strong, and not to please ourselves. Each of us should please our neighbor for their good, to build them up. (Romans 15:1–2)

No one should seek their own good, but the good of others. (1 Corinthians 10:24)

Lord, I praise You for Your power and might and for Your lovingkindness. I thank You for being my portion, and I ask that I would be mindful of the needs of others.
