Daily Scripture: Day 56—Deuteronomy 29

From Handbook to Scripture, Day 56

READING: DEUTERONOMY 29

Nearing the end of his lengthy discourse to the people, Moses reminds them that it is the Lord who established His covenant with them and that they entered into it willingly. The Lord’s desire was to establish them as a people for Himself, but Moses made it clear that they would eventually forsake the Lord their God and experience the devastating adversity consequent to serving other gods. This chapter is a reminder that “God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap” (Galatians 6:7).

Prayer: Lord, I know that this life is not a dress rehearsal, but is very real in its nature and consequences. By Your grace, I want to make my time count for eternity by treasuring You and obeying the things You ask me to do.

Meditation passage: verses 9, 13, 29
