Daily Scripture: Day 62—Joshua 3

From Handbook to Scripture, Day 62

READING: JOSHUA 3

Joshua demonstrated his leadership and confidence in the Lord in this account of the crossing of the Jordan River. The Lord established Joshua’s authority in the eyes of the children of Israel when Joshua obediently followed His instructions about commanding the priests to bear the ark of the covenant to the edge of the water. When the soles of the feet of the priests touched the overflowing waters of the river, the Lord cut off the flow of water until all the people were able to cross the riverbed on dry ground. Just as Moses led the people safely through the waters of the Red Sea, so his successor Joshua led them safely through the waters of the Jordan River.

Prayer: Lord, You are the supremely worthy object of trust, since You have demonstrated the truth of Your promises again and again in the Old and New Testament history of redemption. Let me remember Your wonderful works among the sons of men.
