Daily Scripture: Year 2, Day 3

From Handbook to Renewal

The Attributes of God

The Lord my God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great God, mighty and awesome, who shows no partiality and accepts no bribes. He executes justice for the fatherless and the widow and loves the alien, giving him food and clothing. (Deuteronomy 10:1718)

As for God, His way is perfect; the word of the Lord is proven. He is a shield to all who take refuge in Him. For who is God besides the Lord? And who is the Rock except our God? (Psalm 18:3031)

The Works of God

To us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on His shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on the throne of David and over His kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will accomplish this. (Isaiah 9:67)

Jesus will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David, and He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and His kingdom will never end. (Luke 1:3233)

My Relationship to God

The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock; I will take refuge in Him, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold and my refuge—my Savior, You save me from violence. I call on the Lord, who is worthy of praise, and I am saved from my enemies. (2 Samuel 22:24)

Who will bring a charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. Who is he who condemns? It is Christ Jesus who died, who was furthermore raised to life, who is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for me. (Romans 8:3334)

The Character I Want to Cultivate

The fear of the Lord, that is wisdom, and to depart from evil is understanding. (Job 28:28)

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; all who practice His commandments have a good understanding. His praise endures forever. (Psalm 111:10)

My Relationship to Others

I will stay away from a foolish man, for I will not find knowledge on his lips. (Proverbs 14:7)

I will not make friends with a hot-tempered man or associate with one easily angered, lest I learn his ways and set a snare for my soul. (Proverbs 22:2425)
