We often treat something that is passing away like something eternal. Our earthly relationships fit into this category. After all, death will eventually leave us with mere memories of those we love. It is not possible for us to get a second chance to live out our earthly lives with them when they are gone. We never know when we will see someone again, and so we need to treasure them in the present moment. But at the same time, everyone we know is an eternal being. For those who follow Christ, an eternal weight of glory awaits.
