Ken Boa continues to discuss soul care, an aspect of true Christian community that involves relationships for the purpose of personal spiritual growth. Paul, Barnabas, and Timothy serve as a model for mentoring: all of us need a person further down the road in the spiritual journey (a Paul), a person to whom we pass on spiritual guidance and insights (a Timothy), and a colaborer or coworker in the Kingdom—someone who encourages us and spurs us on (a Barnabas). Mentors do not have to be living; they could be authors or people from our past who have gone on to be with the Lord.
