We’re all familiar with the Golden Rule: treat others as you would like to be treated. Jesus mentions this maxim several times throughout the Gospels (e.g., Matthew 7:12; Luke 6:31), and when asked what the greatest commandment in the Law was, He answered that the entire Law and
God has perfect community within the unity and diversity of the Trinity. We, being made in the image of God, are relational beings as well.
What does it look like to imitate God? We need to look at the life of Christ, learning how to love others as He loved us.
Every person we meet is made in the image of God. Because of this, we need to recognize the worth of relationships and practice God’s presence in them.
Where can we find a proper perspective? We must begin with God.
If our value was based on size, we would be of hardly any worth at all compared to the sun, moon, and stars. But God has made us in His image and chosen to rescue us from our sin and restore our relationship with Him. This is what gives us worth.
How is our life like a tree? As the root goes deeper, so fruit grows upward. Likewise, as Christ as declared us righteous, we begin to bear his fruit outwardly.
God’s grace of forgiveness is a wonderful gift. Allow it to transform you and to cause you to extend grace to others.
God is all about relationships, but if we aren’t careful in how we navigate these relationships, we run the risk of being shallow and unfruitful.
By what do you measure true greatness? Fame? Power? Position or possessions? These worldly parameters are far from the mark according to the Word of God.
