You are here for a purpose. Ephesians 2:10 says that those who are in Christ “are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.” God intentionally made you with specific purposes in mind. It is His desire that you “walk in” those works He has prepared for you.
It is important to realize that, while evangelism is a key part of this calling, edification is the end game. We are not called to make only converts, but disciples—ones who becomes like the Master. Our universal purpose, then, is to love God with our whole life by becoming more like Christ and by making disciples who do the same.
God’s purpose for our lives transcends our career and present circumstances. This involves both a universal and a unique purpose.
“What do you seek?” We ought to ask ourselves this question Jesus asks at the outset of His ministry (John 1:38). Our choices show us what we truly pursue.
