From A Simple Book of Prayers
Loving One Another
(Intercession)
Lord, You have invited me to pray for the needs of others; and since You desire what is best for them, I take this opportunity to bring these requests to You.
You have given us a new commandment to love one another even as You have loved us; so we must love one another. By this all men will know that we are Your disciples. (John 13:34)
This is Your commandment, that we love one another as You have loved us. (John 15:12)
Take a moment to lift up the needs of your family and friends, and to offer up any other burdens for others that the Lord brings to mind.
There are six things the Lord hates, seven that are detestable to Him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that run swiftly to evil, a false witness who breathes lies, and one who causes strife among brothers. (Proverbs 6:16–19)
I will be careful that no one entices me by riches. (Job 36:18)
Lord, I praise You for the glory and majesty of Jesus Christ and thank You for the gift of forgiveness through His death and resurrection. You are my strength and my shield. May I put aside those things that are displeasing to You.
