Daily Prayer: Year 1, Day 56

From A Simple Book of Prayers

Using My Mouth to Bless
(Thanksgiving)

O Lord, I am deeply grateful for Your wonderful acts, for Your abundant promises, and for the gift of my relationship with You through the merits of Christ.

Bless the Lord, O my soul;
And all that is within me, bless His holy name.
Bless the Lord, O my soul,
And forget not all His benefits;
Who forgives all your iniquities
And heals all your diseases;
Who redeems your life from the pit
And crowns you with love and compassion;
Who satisfies your desires with good things,
So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s. (Psalm 103:1–5)

Take a moment to express your gratitude for the many blessings that you have received from the Lord.

When pride comes, then comes dishonor, but with humility comes wisdom. (Proverbs 11:2)

The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil that is set among the parts of the body, that corrupts the whole body, and sets the whole course of our life on fire and is set on fire by hell. (James 3:6)

Lord, thank You that You have given all things into Your Son’s hand and that He has become the ladder to heaven. Thank You that I belong to Christ. Please guard me from pride and boasting.
