Daily Prayer: Year 1, Day 58

Setting My Hope in Jesus
(Confession)

I am grateful to You, O God, for the blessing of Your forgiveness. I thank You that in Christ You set me free from the guilt of the past and give me hope for the future.

I will endure discipline, for God is treating me as a son. For what son is not disciplined by his father? If I am without discipline, of which all have become partakers, then I am an illegitimate child and not a true son. (Hebrews 12:7–8)

Take a moment to ask the Spirit to search your heart and reveal any areas of unconfessed sin. Acknowledge these to the Lord, and thank Him for His forgiveness.

I will prepare my mind for action and be self-controlled, setting my hope fully on the grace to be brought to me at the revelation of Jesus Christ. (1 Peter 1:13)

I will be self-controlled and alert; my adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. But I will resist him, standing firm in the faith, knowing that my brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings. (1 Peter 5:8–9)

Lord, You are the source of all things and the resurrected Christ perfectly fulfilled the Scriptures. I thank You for Your deliverance. May I be self-controlled and firm in my faith.
