Daily Prayer: Year 1, Day 66

From A Simple Book of Prayers

Being Rich Toward God
(Renewal)

I praise You, Lord, that You are intimately acquainted with my ways and that You always love me and have my best interests at heart.

May I not turn aside from following the Lord, but serve the Lord with all my heart. May I not turn aside to go after worthless things which do not profit or deliver. (1 Samuel 12:20–21)

The works of the flesh are evident, which are: immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions, envyings, drunkenness, revelries, and the like. . . . But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. (Galatians 5:19–23)

Take a moment to offer this day to the Lord, and ask Him for the grace to grow in your knowledge and love for Him.

I will not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. (Matthew 6:34)

I do not want to lay up treasure for myself without being rich toward God. (Luke 12:21)

Lord, all things serve You. You and Your works are wonderful. I thank You that I can find comfort through hope in You. May I not worry about worldly things, but seek to be rich toward You.
