From A Simple Book of Prayers
Being a Person of Faith
(Confession)
I am grateful to You, O God, for the blessing of Your forgiveness. I thank You that in Christ You set me free from the guilt of the past and give me hope for the future.
Save me from bloodguilt, O God,
The God of my salvation,
And my tongue will sing aloud of Your righteousness.
For You do not desire sacrifice, or I would bring it;
You do not delight in burnt offering.
The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit;
A broken and contrite heart,
O God, You will not despise. (Psalm 51:14, 16–17)
Take a moment to ask the Spirit to search your heart and reveal any areas of unconfessed sin. Acknowledge these to the Lord, and thank Him for His forgiveness.
Like Ezra, I want to set my heart to study the word of the Lord, and to do it, and to teach it to others. (Ezra 7:10)
I want to be a person of faith, who does not doubt the promises of God, and not a double-minded man, who is unstable in all his ways. (James 1:6, 8)
Lord, I praise You for Your wisdom and strength and for Your authority over all things. I thank You for the assurance of the resurrection. May I know Your Word and hope in Your promises.
