Daily Scripture: Year 2, Day 14

From Handbook to Renewal

The Attributes of God

The Lord does not see as man sees. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart. (1 Samuel 16:7)

O Lord, You have searched me and You know me. You know when I sit down and when I rise up; You understand my thoughts from afar. You scrutinize my path and my lying down and are acquainted with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue, O Lord, You know it completely. (Psalm 139:14)

The Works of God

A Shoot will come forth from the stump of Jesse; from his roots a Branch will bear fruit. The Spirit of the Lord will rest on Him—the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and of power, the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord—and He will delight in the fear of the Lord. He will not judge by what He sees with His eyes, or decide by what He hears with His ears, but with righteousness He will judge the poor and decide with fairness for the meek of the earth. And He will strike the earth with the rod of His mouth; with the breath of His lips He will slay the wicked. Righteousness will be His belt, and faithfulness the sash around His waist. (Isaiah 11:15)

Behold, a virgin shall be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call His name Immanuel, which means, “God with us.” (Matthew 1:23)

My Relationship to God

The Lord my God wants me to fear Him, to walk in all His ways, to love Him, and to serve the Lord my God with all my heart and with all my soul. (Deuteronomy 10:12)

I want to know God and serve Him with a whole heart and with a willing mind; for the Lord searches all hearts and understands every motive behind the thoughts. (1 Chronicles 28:9)

The Character I Want to Cultivate

I know, my God, that You test the heart and are pleased with integrity. (1 Chronicles 29:17)

May those who hope in You not be ashamed because of me, O Lord God of hosts; may those who seek You not be dishonored because of me, O God of Israel. (Psalm 69:6)

My Relationship to Others

Whoever acknowledges You before men, You will also acknowledge him before Your Father in heaven. But whoever denies You before men, You will also deny him before Your Father in heaven. (Matthew 10:3233)

I will not be ashamed to testify about our Lord, but I will join with others in suffering for the gospel according to the power of God. (2 Timothy 1:8)
