If we put our hope in something other than God’s character and promises, then we will ultimately be left empty and disappointed. There is only One who does not change—only One Whose promises are sure. We have to make a choice. Do we put our hope in the temporal, or do we trust in the eternal? We can’t do both.
Indeed, we can hope for things in the temporal, but we must hope in that which lasts forever. This is a difficult spiritual battle, but we know that God, the lover of our souls, desires us to have life in abundance. As we trust Him, we live in true freedom to use that which He has given us for His glory in our circumstances and circles of influence.
