Think about identity theft. What does that mean to us? We immediately imagine someone stealing our credit cards or driver’s license.
But the world is also interested in stealing our identities. We pick up who we are from the world’s playbook. As a result, we lose sight of who we are and whose we are.
We must ask ourselves, “Who are you, Lord, and what do you want me to do?” When we know Who God is, that will also define who we are. It is essential to remind ourselves of our identity in Christ.
This practice of identity affirmations ingrains in us that we are children of God, adopted into His family.
