After 40 years of being a shepherd in the wilderness, Moses must have thought he was through with both the Israelites and the Egyptians. God, though, had other plans. He used those years to prepare Moses as a deliverer for the Israelites. One day, Moses encountered the living God, the LORD. God spoke to Moses out of the burning bush. He said, “I have surely seen the affliction of My people who are in Egypt, and have given heed to their cry because of their taskmasters, for I am aware of their sufferings” (Exodus 3:7 NASB). The time had come to set God’s people free from their bondage.
