Daily Encouragement: Day 146

From Handbook to Wisdom, Day 146 (Wisdom)

BE QUICK TO HEAR AND SLOW TO SPEAK

Everyone should be quick to hear, slow to speak, and
slow to anger, for the anger of man does not produce
the righteousness of God.
(James 1:19–20)

In a multitude of words, transgression is inevitable,
but he who restrains his lips is wise.
(Proverbs 10:19)

A fool takes no pleasure in understanding,
but only in airing his own opinions.
(Proverbs 18:2)

Lord God, I ask for the wisdom to restrain my speech and the patience to listen more carefully to others before responding with my own opinions. May I be a gracious and others-centered listener rather than a controlling and self-centered talker. I desire to serve others by listening, caring, and encouraging. Amen.
