Daily Encouragement: Day 147

From Handbook to Wisdom, Day 147 (Wisdom)

RESPOND CORRECTLY TO REPROOF

The person who listens to a life-giving rebuke
will be at home among the wise.
The one who refuses correction despises himself,
but whoever heeds reproof gains understanding.
(Proverbs 15:31–32)

A rebuke goes deeper into a wise person
than a hundred lashes into a fool.
(Proverbs 17:10)

Lord, although there is no pleasure in being rebuked and corrected, I desire a teachable spirit that is willing to receive the truth in humility. May I listen for the truth and not filter it out through stubbornness and defensiveness, so that I will grow in wisdom and make the necessary mid-course corrections that will lead to maturity in character. Amen.
