WALK IN HUMILITY
Before his downfall the heart of a man is haughty,
but humility comes before honor.
(Proverbs 18:12)
Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are those who mourn,
for they will be comforted.
Blessed are the meek,
for they will inherit the earth.
(Matthew 5:3–5)
Dear Lord, I ask for the grace of growing realization of my true condition before You. May I focus on Your glory, goodness, and grace, and not on myself. Then I will more clearly grasp my poverty of spirit and mourn over my foolish pride. I would live in humility and meekness rather than self-assertion and the human quest for power. Amen.
