GUARD YOUR SPEECH
I will put away perversity from my mouth
and keep corrupt talk far from my lips.
(Proverbs 4:24)
I will not let any corrupt word come out of my mouth,
but only what is helpful for building others up
according to their needs, that it may
impart grace to those who hear.
(Ephesians 4:29)
Lord, I need the wisdom of placing a guard about my speech, so that my words will encourage, edify, and exhort rather than dishearten, hurt, and alienate others. May I monitor what I say and think carefully before talking, so that my words would impart kindness, grace, and good counsel to those who hear. Amen.
