From Handbook to Wisdom, Day 169
BE CONTENT WITH GOD’S PROVISION
I shall not covet my neighbor’s house,
my neighbor’s wife,
his manservant or maidservant,
his ox or donkey,
or anything that belongs to my neighbor.
(Exodus 20:17; Deuteronomy 5:21)
I will beware and be on my guard against all
covetousness, for my life does not consist in the
abundance of my possessions.
(Luke 12:15)
Lord God, protect me, I pray, from the insidious nature of covetousness that would tempt me to question Your goodness and provision and eliminate contentment from my life. I realize that the measure of my life is not defined by the quality of my possessions, but by the quality of my relationship with You. Amen.
