Daily Encouragement: Day 176

From Handbook to Wisdom, Day 176

PUT TRUTH INTO PRACTICE

Has the Lord as much delight in burnt offerings
and sacrifices as in obeying the voice of the Lord?
To obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better than
the fat of rams. For rebellion is like the sin of divination,
and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry.
(1 Samuel 15:22–23)

I desire not only to call You Lord but to do what You say.
By Your grace, I will come to You, hear Your words, and
put them into practice. Then I will be like a man
building a house, who dug down deep and laid the
foundation on rock, and when a flood came, the torrent
struck that house but could not shake it,
because it was well built.
(Luke 6:46–48)

Dear Lord, may I hear Your words and receive them by putting them in practice each day. I want to build upon the rock of Your truth rather than the sand of my feelings. So I ask for the empowerment to obey Your revealed word and to fully carry out what You have commanded, so that my life will be pleasing to You. Amen.
