From Handbook to Wisdom, Day 199
PUT YOUR PRIDE IN THE LORD
The fear of the Lord is the instruction for wisdom,
and humility comes before honor.
(Proverbs 15:33)
Thus says the Lord:
“Let not the wise man boast of his wisdom, and let not
the strong man boast of his strength, and let not the rich
man boast of his riches; but let him who boasts boast
about this: that he understands and knows Me,
that I am the Lord, who exercises lovingkindness, justice,
and righteousness on earth; for in these I delight,”
declares the Lord.
(Jeremiah 9:23–24)
Dear Lord, grant me the grace to order my steps in the path of humility and the fear of the Lord. I will not boast in the things that are so impressive to people—shrewdness, power, and wealth—but in the knowledge of You. Since You delight in lovingkindness, justice, and righteousness, I want to treasure these above whatever the world has to offer. Amen.
