From Handbook to Wisdom, Day 239
IS IT CHANCE OR A DANCE?
I will remember the works of the Lord; surely,
I will remember Your wonders of long ago.
I will meditate on all Your works
and consider all Your mighty deeds.
Your way, O God, is holy.
What god is so great as our God?
You are the God who works wonders;
You have revealed Your strength among the peoples.
You redeemed Your people with Your power,
the descendants of Jacob and Joseph.
(Psalm 77:11–15)
The Lord has performed mighty deeds with His arm;
He has scattered those who are proud in the thoughts of their heart.
He has brought down rulers from their thrones and has lifted up the humble.
(Luke 1:51–52)
Eugene Warren, in Christographia XIV, penned these words:
“Is it chance
or dance moves
the world?
“Is the world
blind and dumb
or bloom, festal?
A vain jest,
or holy feast?”
Our perspective on life, whether temporal or eternal, will determine the set of rules by which we play, the standards and character we pursue, the source of our hope, and the difference between obedience and disobedience to God’s precepts and principles.
