In Christ, we are new creatures. Even though we wrestle against the flesh, we can walk as victors because of His sacrifice.
Moses’s disobedience may seem like a small thing to us, and God’s reaction drastic, but we need to recognize that God had given Moses a command. And Moses, the shepherd of the Israelites, did not obey. As Luke 12:48 teaches, to whom much is given, much will be required. The more you know about the Word, the more you will be held accountable. Moses was a leader, and God held him accountable for his actions.
True wisdom involves treating things according to their true value. To do so, we need an eternal perspective from training in the Word and in prayer.
Having explored the clarity of the new covenant, Paul prays that his fellow believers would be enabled to live well out of their enlightenment in Christ.
“If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit” (Galatians 5:25 NASB95). One mark of the disciple is depending on the power of the Holy Spirit.
Obedience to God’s commandments is not onerous. Instead, it is liberating. As we know and love God more, we will delight in obeying Him.
Ephesians 1:3–14 shows us the beautiful truth of our salvation in three tenses. We have been redeemed and are in Christ, but await our full inheritance.
