Dr. Boa continues his discussion of Jesus’s spiritual practices and his invitation to us to practice God’s presence, just as he did on earth. Today’s lesson picks up in John 10.
Emotional, intellectual, and volitional obstacles can keep us from trusting and yielding to God, both for the first time and after we become followers of Christ. Trusting Him is especially challenging when life is difficult or doesn’t make sense from our perspective. But if we turn toward God, his Spirit in us will help us overcome these barriers, so that we’re able to trust Him at all times, no matter what’s going on around us.
Continuing to build the biblical foundation, Dr. Boa examines the four Gospels to see how Jesus practiced the presence of God in total dependence and submission.
As Peter continues to prepare the people for the upcoming fierce persecution, he stresses the importance of leadership. Times of persecution demand spiritual leadership. Dr. Boa expounds on the qualities of leadership and the necessity of godly authority to carry the people.
Peter talks about the surprising power and gift of grace that comes upon us which overcomes adversity and suffering. When we keep an eternal perspective, God gives us peace, patience and comfort in a way that transcends the circumstances of life.
