The person and work of Jesus Christ stand at the very center of the Christian faith. When we consider who Christ is, we are immediately drawn into one of the most profound and mysterious truths in all of Scripture: that Jesus is both fully God and fully man. This is not a peripheral doctrine—it is essential to understanding the meaning…

The Christian faith is not primarily a system of ideas, moral teachings, or religious practices. It is centered on a person—Jesus Christ. This distinction is essential. Unlike other worldviews that can be reduced to abstract principles or philosophical systems, Christianity cannot be separated from the identity of Christ Himself. His teaching carries authority not merely because of its excellence, but…

The doctrine of God’s providence is not merely an abstract idea for theological reflection; it is a truth that speaks directly into the way we live. When we consider what Scripture reveals about God—from Genesis to Revelation—we discover a consistent and compelling portrait: God is not distant, passive, or detached from His creation. Instead, He is actively involved, wisely governing…

One of the most profound mysteries in the Christian faith is the doctrine of the Trinity. When we begin to explore this truth, we are not merely examining a theological idea. We are coming to the very heart of reality itself. The Trinity reveals who God is and, in doing so, helps us understand who we are meant to be.…

In our previous reflection we began exploring the attributes of God. Some of these attributes belong uniquely to God and cannot be shared with created beings. These are often called incommunicable attributes. They include truths such as God’s independence, eternality, and unity. God exists independently of everything else. He does not depend on anyone or anything for His existence. By…

In this study we consider one of the most important themes in theology: the character of God. A.W. Tozer called this pursuit “the knowledge of the Holy,” and his classic book by that title remains one of the most profound reflections on God’s attributes. Understanding who God is does not merely expand our knowledge—it deepens our worship and strengthens our…

We have just completed a 38-week study of the Sermon on the Mount, and now we turn to a series of shorter studies on what the Bible says about God, Christ, and the Holy Spirit. In this article, we look broadly at what theology is, the nature of revelation, and the existence of God. The purpose of theology is to…

As we conclude this remarkable sermon, we are reminded again that Jesus is not offering a message that can be separated from Himself. The Sermon on the Mount is not merely a set of moral ideals. It is not a detached “ethic of the kingdom” that we may admire from a safe distance. Rather, His whole identity is expressed in…

We have come to the final two verses that conclude the Sermon on the Mount. Strictly speaking, these verses are not part of the sermon itself. Rather, they describe the response of those who heard it—both the crowds who were present and the disciples who had been with Jesus from the beginning. “When Jesus had finished these words, the crowds…

As we come to the end of the Sermon on the Mount, we stand before one of the most searching passages in all of Scripture. These are words such as the world has never heard. Matthew tells us that the crowds were astonished because Jesus was teaching them as one having authority, not as their scribes (Matthew 7:28–29). There was…
