Taming the Tongue
The wise person knows three things when it comes to words: the value of speech, the characteristics of good words, and the source of good words.
The wise person knows three things when it comes to words: the value of speech, the characteristics of good words, and the source of good words.
What are the characteristics of the wise? Ken Boa looks at seven of them through the book of Proverbs: humility, loyalty, teachability, righteousness, godly speech, forgiveness, and thoughtfulness.
You can never outgrow the wisdom in the books of the Bible. Proverbs, for example, will challenge us to watch our words and honor God with our lips.
We truly begin to walk in wisdom when our speech demonstrates self-control. Instead of answering out of anger, speak calmly out of love.
When it comes to our words, less is better than more. Sin likes to sneak into our lives through our lips, so a quality of the wise is to speak less often.
